About us

JF Well Works Africa was created by John and Victoria Foley in response to the desperate need for clean water in impoverished parts of the world.

JF Well Works Africa is a 501(c)3 private operating foundation registered in the US and registered as an NGO in Uganda where they currently work.

Please note: JF Well Works Africa is self-funded and does not receive grants or solicit funds from the public.

What we do

Our work consists of drilling new hand pump water wells and rehabilitating existing broken wells. Work is completed by our team of seven employees experienced in all aspects of well drilling and community outreach. All work is done by our team using our own drilling equipment. We work with local government officials and village leaders to form and train local committees to manage, maintain, and take ownership of the wells. Ensuring access to consistent clean water requires training the local committees to be self sufficient.

We began working in Lira district of Northern Uganda in January 2018. As of October 2021 JF Well Works Africa has drilled 266 new wells, providing clean water to 161,302 people. Furthermore 103 broken wells have been rehabilitated, helping to serve another 81,000 people.
